Her History with Music
Since a child, Payton has been enthralled with Music. From humming along to a Marc Anthony song at 6 months old, to singing music as a toddler with her Mom, she has always been moved by music! In her early years, she would perform in front of large crowds seemingly without nerves or worries. From Christmas programs, to school talent shows, to impromptu beach bon-fire performances, Payton has always brought peace, joy and happiness through her voice.
While living a dream life on the beaches of San Clemente, Payton became a staple in the local music scene as she entertained and moved thousands with her singing. She surrounded herself with good people, good friends, who like her enjoyed good music. She would have jam sessions with her friends, and even work on creating songs during her high school years.
She had a life changing moment when she was assigned to be a missionary in Hawaii. She was to be there for a year and a half, and could not have been more excited. She told people that her plan was to write and perform gospel music while on her mission, and that she wanted to create a "new sound" while inspiring others to come unto Christ.
Within a few weeks of being on the island of Kauai in early 2020, the entire world faced quarantine. In her case, she was quarantined for three months and with sheer luck, was with another musically talented missionary - Mele Epenisa. While couped up in their apartment, Payton would write songs, lyrics and music while Epenisa would pluck cords with her Ukulele. They began to record themselves singing and post to Facebook. Before they knew it, they were being listened to world-wide. They received message after message from all over the earth, as people were sharing how much their music touched their souls. The messages were penetrating, as they spoke truths to them about who God was and how God loved them.
As her mission went on, and after Mele had returned to her home in Australia, Payton continued writing and producing song after song. Her songs were being shared virally amongst missionaries, who were thirsty for a new sound to gospel related music. Payton would produce music that other missionaries would take and use to advance the work in their respective areas, sharing Payton's songs with people interested in the message of Jesus Christ. The words in her songs also impacted the missionaries themselves, who were facing unprecedented times, dealing with a global pandemic.
Upon returning home from her mission to Hawaii, Payton had a library of over 20 songs she had written, performed and posted online via Facebook. With encouragement from anyone that had heard her voice, she began to "get to work" and record these songs using a professional studio and renown producer Randy Slaugh. As a result, some amazing, incredible music has been produced and now is available to each of you!
